Lecture on Plato’s Crito; Phaedo 1 of 4

In this lecture I cover in detail Socrates’ discussion with Crito about why it would be immoral to escape from jail, even though Socrates is unjustly condemned to death. At about the 39 minute mark I begin to cover the Phaedo. This is the dialogue covering the day of Socrates’ death. In this introductory lecture the distinction between the body and soul is covered, and I surprise the students by asking them to consider the possibility that their brain does not think (nor does mine or anyone’s!)
