This is the start of a new series of casual coffee talks about how philosophy and theology relate to daily life. This first video is part 1 of 2 on the question: “What is faith?” Mike Gannotti read a recent article of mine in which I pointed out that many people think faith is irrational, and he wanted to discuss that. The rationality of faith happens to be a favorite topic of Pope Benedict XVI. Using his book Christianity and the Crisis of Cultures as our guide, we explain that faith is rational, and also more than rational, but not irrational. In part 1 we discuss the “more than rational” dimension of faith and in part 2 we discuss the rational dimension of faith.
